Technical Artist & UI Tech Artist - Lucid Games

We’re looking for a Technical Artist to join our growing team. This role will be working with an experienced team of Artists on an exciting new console title.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with the art, programming and design team to support their day-to-day roles.
  • Helping to develop tools to improve workflow efficiencies for 3D and 2D Artists.
  • Debug and assist fixing art issues within the game.
  • Ensure art asset production is efficient at each step through the pipeline.

Required Experience:

  • Experience of using 3rd party engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity
  • A solid understanding of 3D and 2D art pipelines within games
  • An understanding of shaders.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with Niagara and Cascade for VFX in UE4 (Including LOD’s, Significance and optimisation, shaders, materials, texture use.)
  • Unreal Engine 4 Blueprint Visual Scripting
  • A good knowledge of 3D art tools such as Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max (Including rigging, hierarchies.)
  • A good knowledge of 2D Art tools such as Photoshop, Substance and Quixel.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Mel.

We’re looking for a UI Technical Artist to work with our UI/UX and Programming teams to build and implement engaging, usable UI into our games.

Responsibilities

  • Be the connection between art, design and programming to bringing high quality game UI mockups to life.
  • Establish pipelines and processes to build front end technology that will be used across on multiple titles across the the studio.
  • Work with our UX/UI Designers and Programmers to implement game screens and animations to final quality.
  • Work closely with artists, designers, programmers to prototype UI and gameplay concepts.
  • Implement and maintain UI assets in the game’s engine and responsibility to ensure their technical consistency.

Required Experience

  • 3 years experience with UI development or Technical Art in the games or a similar creative industry
  • Strong technical skillset, including having worked with scripting, programming or markup languages to develop user-interfaces
  • Proficiency with node based shader networks such as those used in Unreal
  • Good understanding of graphics optimisation
  • Practical experience with of blueprints and the ability to implement layout designs with with Unreal Engine

Desired Experience

  • Knowledge of C#, C++ or any other programming language
  • Experience writing and maintaining shaders
  • An understanding of rendering pipelines
