Portals

I have started organizing the Wiki content/flow into Portals. I’ve begun setting one up at http://tech-artists.org/wiki/index.php/Portal:MaxScript and http://tech-artists.org/wiki/index.php/Portal:Shaders . There isn’t much content now, will fill that up as things continue.

I think if the Wiki is to become a good resource, it will need some sort of structure to funnel people to the right places/jump pages. Especially early on when the ‘Wikiness’ is low, and search/connections aren’t as effective, some sort of flow should help direct users.

Also, the portals serve as a library of good tutorials and articles, with brief descriptions. A portal should be more than just a yellow pages, though- it should allow users to find what they are looking for and related content. I’ve organized tutorials into beginner/intermediate/advanced, based on specific category, etc., depending on what I think will be most useful. It should be a secondary jump page, the primary jump page would be the main page Jay is working on. Depending on how the Wiki grows, it may replicate the main page in form as well, but I think something simple is fine for now.

I’ve added so far only content I am familiar with, and only for HLSL and MXS. If you guys could get started on setting up a Python or MEL portal when you have time, that’d be much appreciated. Or add to the Wiki’s content. If you come up with a good tutorial idea, tell me if I can help you with it, I’d like to add as much original content as possible.

Sorry if this sounds a bit choppy, got very tired in the past 15 minutes or so.
