Getting into Technical Art at a Motion Capture Studio?

I am a current university interested in working as a technical artist at a motion capture studio, as I have had fun using the Vicon system at my school and enjoy 3D modeling, rigging, and scripting in Maya. Unfortunately, I’m very much an amateur at all of this and my school doesn’t provide many resources for anything 3D art related.

What do I need to do to be a competitive candidate? I’d imagine a portfolio/demo reel but what exactly would they want in an application? Any help would be appreciated!

You didn’t have Motion Builder in your list of skills.
Mocap TAs I work with all use MotionBuilder and Python
