Technical Artist - Rigger

Responsibilities

As a Technical Rigging Artist, you will contribute to the development of tools and workflows that ensure the rigging pipeline supports the creation of inspiring, engaging and informative game experiences.

  • Develop and maintain flexible rigging and skinning tools that satisfy a wide variety of needs and styles
  • Advance the quality of animated assets by working with teams to continually improve rigging workflows
  • Research new techniques, processes, and pipelines with a focus on improving collaboration and efficiency amongst artists, designers, and engineers
  • Create standards and conventions for rigging and skinning that encourages iteration, consistency, and quality
  • Develop rigs and skeletons working with modelers and animators that adhere to project goals and technical limitations
  • Provide technical support for a wide variety of rigging challenges across multiple disciplines
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions for workflow and runtime issues

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of production experience with a significant portion dedicated to the use and creation of rigging pipelines
  • Portfolio demonstrating rigging and tool development
  • Expertise in all aspects of rigging pipelines including set up, automation, and optimization
  • In-depth knowledge of Maya
  • Proficient with Python, PyMEL, and PySide
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-driven team-oriented contributor with excellent time management skills
  • A customer-centric approach to tool development; solid grasp of UX
  • Passion for creative problem solving and debugging

Preferred

  • Comfortable using Maya API
  • Familiar with MotionBuilder and motion capture workflows
  • Experience using Unreal or Unity
  • Experience with runtime rigging
