Senior Technical Artist For Serious Games - Remote/Los Angeles/Cambridge

Interested in working with a group of folks with drastically different backgrounds and skills to create compelling visualizations and tools? Applied Invention is a R&D for hire company that works with very large companies to come up with bespoke solutions to their pain points. One of the areas we specialize in is Command and Control applications for various industries(non-military). We’ve made it work with the developers we have had using outsourced assets, but as the scope of these projects increase, it’s clear we need a technical artist to help us out by creating asset pipelines, cleaning up/modifying existing models, and potentially creating new ones. Most of the work we do is fairly animation light, but rigging heavy(telematics from actual robots/vehicles will control the animations). Position can absolutely be done remotely, but we have pretty great office spaces in Burbank and Cambridge. Burbank has a whole shop(metal, wood, etc…) that you could play with if your heart so desires.

This would initially be a contract position for 5 months, with the option to extend/employ afterwards.

Need to haves:
Experience with Unreal 4, at least 2 shipped products.
Ability to interact with, as a peer, a bunch of quirky and opinionated engineers.

Nice to haves:
Unity/Cesium experience
Modeling/texturing experience
VFX experience
Creativity, we could always use an injection of this.
