@rgkovach: anyone know how the FBX exporter for Maya determines the order in which to write out the materials when you have a single mesh assigned to multiple materials?
Doesn’t seem to be related to the relationship between the mesh and shadingGroups.
@bob.w: Might be order of assignment, based on lunar cycles.

@bob.w: I think @jeroen_heemskerk is right. I remember something like this coming up before. Though in a week I’ll go back to believing that maya gremlins are responsible.
@rgkovach: yep, just looked at what materials were assigned to face 0 on a couple of meshes and it bears out
