Maya 2024 is ready

There is a lot going on in the latest Maya version.

I like those new math nodes and the multiple skinclusters.

Finally, a sine node
One of the first tricks I ever learned was doing trig operations physically, by rotating parented locators at origin. Then the first c++ plugin I made was a trig node. Glad they’re finally in the main package.

Oh man, really excited at numeric weight vis and those math nodes. This is awesome!

Please read important!

Yesssss multiple skin clusters lets go. Bout damn time.

Will there be a Python/MEL node in the future?

Man, I’m really spoiled in Houdini. Being able to add a code within the node chain helps in flexibility.

Multiple skin clusters, but they don’t work. They double transform and don’t export correctly or consistently. Details here at this timestamp: What's new in Maya 2024? - YouTube

  • It double transforms (maybe there are (or will be) some normalization settings.)
  • Unity just gets the first skinCluster.
  • Unreal gets the last skinCluster.
  • Exporting and importing back into Maya is just a… cluster$%!*…

Just saw this today. I suppose to be expected with a new feature, but also, a curious oversight
